Under Armour : tops Street on strong footwear, int'l sales

BALTIMORE (AP) — Strong growth in international sales and footwear helped push Under Armour's third-quarter revenue higher. The sports clothing maker's results topped analysts' expectations.
For the period ended Sept. 30, Under Armour earned $128.2 million, or 29 cents per share. That compares with $100.5 million, or 23 cents per share, a year earlier.
The performance topped the 25 cents per share that analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research expected.
Revenue for the Baltimore-based company increased to $1.47 billion from $1.2 billion. That's better than the $1.45 billion in revenue analysts polled by Zacks expected.
International sales, which made up 15 percent of total revenue for the quarter, surged 74 percent. North American sales climbed 16 percent.
Footwear sales jumped 42 percent, driven by strong growth in running and basketball. Clothing sales and accessories sales both climbed 18 percent.
Under Armour Inc. still anticipates full-year revenue of $4.93 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet predict revenue of $4.94 billion.
