kommenden Montag-Abend in New York verfallen:

ALLAS, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Two back-to-back quarters of strong U.S. economic growth have diminished the risk of deflation, Dallas Federal Reserve President Robert McTeer said on Wednesday.

"Whatever the danger, it was less now than it ever was," McTeer said in a speech to a Dallas Fed conference.

U.S. gross domestic product surged at a sizzling 7.2 percent annual rate in the third quarter, building on the second quarter's 3.3 percent advance and boosting speculation that the economy had finally turned a corner after the 2001 recession.

McTeer, who is not a voting member of the central bank's rate-setting Federal Open Market Committee under this year's rotation, also said increases in productivity have forced companies to cut costs, which may have led to job reductions.

Addressing the recent rise in gold prices, McTeer said he had heard of an index under which Fed policy could be seen as too tight if the price of gold were at $300 an ounce and too easy at $400 an ounce.

While McTeer did not say whether he agreed with the index, but said: "Gold is putting off some cautionary signals right now."

Gold briefly burst above $400 an ounce on Wednesday for the first time since 1996, as global security fears elevated the precious metal's safe-haven value and the dollar sank to record lows against the euro before recovering.

Broker Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein said that their foreign exchange analysts were "cautiously bullish" over the prospects for the euro/dollar and said a break through Wednesday's highs of $1.1977 per euro would open the path up to $1.20. "What does this mean for gold? Well, a break through $1.20 makes a new test of $400 likely again...but should the dollar in turn consolidate on current levels or even gain some ground, this could lead to a test of support levels (for gold), which we see around $390," DKW said.

Wrong-Way Barrick Gold Should Cue Shorts
By James J. Cramer

Gold BEARISH
Larry Kudlow thinks gold should be shorted.
A recent decision by Barrick Gold shows he's right.

Short gold!

My partner on my television show, Larry Kudlow, thinks that gold, the metal, has run too far, too fast, and should be shorted.

I just got a piece of evidence that says he is right: Barrick Gold (ABX:NYSE) , which hedged gold throughout the dramatic run to $400, has just stopped hedging, according to an interview at a Euromoney-World Gold Council conference.

You couldn't have been more wrong with that ABX the whole way up. Does it stand to reason that now that the company at last no longer is hedging out the upside, that the upside must be through?

I have made a living betting against people and companies that are always wrong. Barrick Gold is always wrong.

Short gold.
