After a competitive bidding, SysOpen Digia was chosen to supply expert services for the development of a student portal for Tampere University of Technology (TUT). The project covers both the personified student portal and a teacher user interface. The solution is based on the Oracle 10g AS product family.

 

"The personified student portal provides over 12 000 university students with tools and information related to studies and university life through one user interface. The portal eliminates overlaps, makes operations more effective and promotes learning. It facilitates interaction as well as makes communication and its targeting to the right target group more effective. An integral part of the personified student portal is a standardised teacher user interface which encompasses the tools for teaching planning as well as for the description and implementation of the teaching periods," says Leena Ronimus, Project Manager at TUT. "The student portal project comprises the integration of the existing systems and creation of new ones. Our aim is to build a dynamic and alterable system which will be supplied by SysOpen Digia," continues Ronimus.

 

The technologies selected for the project create a ground for an architecture that will be used also as the basis for TUT's future technology solutions.

 

"We carried out the specification of the portal for Tampere University of Technology, and we are pleased that TUT entrusts also the implementation of the project to us," says Ari Nuutinen from SysOpen Digia.
