Neuer Impfstoff offenbar gegen Corona und Grippe wirksam
Ein Piks als Schutz vor zwei Viruserkrankungen, die beide in den Herbst- und Wintermonaten Saison haben? Das könnte bald Realität sein. So funktioniert der Wirkverstärker für das Immunsystem.
Die Ständige Impfkommission empfiehlt die Grippeschutzimpfung jedes Jahr Menschen über 60 Jahren, chronisch Kranken oder auch zum Beispiel dem Gesundheits- und Pflegepersonal. Diese Personengruppen wurden auch beim Start der Impfkampagne gegen das Coronavirus priorisiert und gelten auch als die Risikogruppen, bei denen eine Nachimpfung nötig sein könnte.
Getestet wird ein Protein-Impfstoff
Dies kann vielleicht bald in Kombination mit einem Grippeimpfstoff passieren. Das US-Unternehmen Novavax gilt als Vorreiter in der Erforschung eines Kombi-Impfstoffes gegen das Grippe- und das Coronavirus. Die mitunter notwendig werdenden Auffrischungsimpfungen gegen SARS-CoV-2 könnten so gleichzeitig mit dem Grippeimpfstoff verabreicht werden.
Das Vakzin von Novavax ist dabei weder ein mRNA- noch ein Vektorimpfstoff wie die bislang in Deutschland zugelassenen Impfstoffe von Biontech und Moderna sowie Astrazeneca und Johnson & Johnson. Der US-Hersteller setzt auf einen Protein-Impfstoff.
Dabei werden die für das Coronavirus so wichtigen Spikes künstlich produziert. Es handelt sich um die Proteine, mit denen das Virus an die menschlichen Zellen andockt und in sie eindringt. Im Labor werden diese Proteine produziert und an Nanopartikel gebunden. Ihnen wird zusätzlich ein Adjuvans, ein Wirkverstärker, hinzugegeben. Nach der Impfung reagiert das Immunsystem auf die künstlichen Spikes und bildet Antikörper, die vor einer Corona-Infektion schützen.
Wirksamkeit gegen Covid-19 bei über 90 Prozent
Diese Art der Protein-Impfstoff kommt bereits bei Grippeimpfungen zum Einsatz. Das auf dieser Basis von Novavax produzierte Corona-Vakzin zeigt auch eine hohe Wirksamkeit. Nach den Ergebnissen der hausinternen Studien liegt sie bei 90,4 Prozent. Bei der Gruppe der geimpften Studienteilnehmer traten also rund 90 Prozent weniger Erkrankungen auf als bei Probanden, die keine Impfung, sondern nur einen Placebostoff erhalten hatten.
Vor mittelschweren oder schweren Krankheitsverläufen soll sogar ein hundertprozentiger Schutz erreicht werden. An der Studie nahmen fast 30.000 Menschen in den USA und Mexiko teil.
Eine britische Studie bestätigte nun die Ergebnisse. Über 16.000 Probanden nahmen an ihr teil. Die Wirksamkeit lag bei 89,7 Prozent.
Wirkstoffe behindern sich nicht gegenseitig
Auch gegen Varianten soll das Vakzin wirksam sein. Und bei den Impfungen zeigten sich bislang nur die auch von anderen Impfstoffen bekannten Nebenwirkungen wie Schmerzen an der Einstichstelle, Muskel- und Gliederschmerzen oder Erschöpfung.
Das Unternehmen ging nun noch einen Schritt weiter und kombinierte den Anti-Corona-Wirkstoff mit einem Grippeimpfstoff. 400 der Studienteilnehmer erhielten diese Vakzine zeitgleich. Dabei stellte sich heraus: Die Immunantwort veränderte sich bei der Grippeimpfung nicht. Die Wirksamkeit der SARS-CoV-2-Impfung sank leicht auf 87,5 Prozent. Impfnebenwirkungen traten etwas häufiger auf.
Noch sind die Forschungen des Unternehmens noch nicht abgeschlossen. Doch der Konzern rechnet damit, im Herbst bereits eine Zulassung des Kombi-Impfstoffes in den USA und in Europa zu beantragen.

OK, I called Novavax. 240-268-2000 (Press 2) at 9:50 a.m. today (July 28) and talked to a real person. I asked if EUA submission is on track, and he said Yes - EUA submission is all on track for Q3 - UK, EU, and FDA - NO DELAYS. I URGE ALL DOUBTERS - CALL THE NOVAVAX NUMBER - PRESS NO. 2 - TO TALK TO A REAL PERSON

I called Novavax and got some great information...EUAS are all still on schedule to be filed in Q3...I asked if they knew specifically when and they said they didn't have that information but this is good news as any filing in q3 is within their timelines....I then asked about if we can expect an EU deal and they said they do expect it will come soon probably sometime around EUA filing....next I asked about raw material shortages and they said they have been working with numerous manufacturing partners globally to shore up these raw materials issues and that their manufacturing is still ramping up according to plan but she couldn't give me exact numbers as to whether they will meet the 100mil dose per month goal by q3...she said she didn't have that information...this is fantastic news in my opinion...nvax share price is already pricing in failure and this is far from it...

So richtig toll hört sich das alles in meinen Augen nicht an, eher nach Verzögerung und die unbeantwortete Frage wie der Wirkstoff bei Delta wirkt steht weiterhin im Raum, ohne klare Angaben zu haben.
Eigentlich bin ich grundsätzlich positiv eingestellt mit meinem Invest bei Novavax, aber so langsam sollten sie echt mal aus dem Quark kommen! Letztlich glaube ich zwar nicht an ein Scheitern wie bei Curevac, aber das die Verzögerung immer nur an Lieferschwierigkeiten liegen soll sehe ich doch mit einer gewissen Skepsis...

das wir aufgrund der Transparenz der Daten keine Klatsche befürchten müssen wie Curevac. Aber Hergott, es nervt die x-te Verschiebung serviert zu bekommen, während Moderna und Pfizer sich ne goldene Nase verdienen. Naja, sorry, musste mal Frust ablassen. JAKARTA - President Director of PT Indofarma Tbk Arief Pramuhanto revealed that 50 million Novavax vaccines arrived in Indonesia in September. The vaccine will be distributed free of charge to the public.
So, Arief emphasized that the Novavax vaccine will be given free of charge and does not include paid vaccines or mutual cooperation vaccines.
"I remind you again that 50 million vaccines are not paid vaccines or mutual cooperation vaccines. This is a government program vaccine," said Arief, in a virtual public expose, Friday (30/7/2021).
Arief said that currently the procurement of the Novavax vaccine is in the process of being approved by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM). While the financial impact of the procurement of this vaccine, Arief explained that it would be included in the fourth quarter of 2021.
"The financial impact of the procurement of this vaccine is not yet known. Indeed, it will start to have a meaningful impact in the fourth quarter. It will be informed later," said Arief.
