Vista Outdoor Names Fred Ferguson as Vice President of Government Relations

FARMINGTON, Utah, Jan. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Vista Outdoor Inc. ("Vista Outdoor") (NYSE: VSTO), has hired Fred Ferguson as Vice President, Government and Industry Relations, reporting to Amanda Covington, the company's Senior Vice President of Communications and Government Relations. Ferguson will have responsibility for leading Vista Outdoor's legislative and executive branch outreach, industry association relationships, and the company's Political Action Committee.

"Fred has a deep understanding of the legislative and regulatory issues that impact our company and the outdoor recreation industry," said Covington. "His experience with public land access, conservation, outdoor recreation and the shooting sports makes him an ideal candidate for this position. Ferguson most recently worked as Chief of Staff for Rep. Jason Chaffetz where he led a team of more than 70 staff members in five offices in the state of Utah and Washington, D.C. Ferguson acted as principal policy advisor for legislative and political matters for Chaffetz, and he managed the Congressman's successful campaign for the Chairmanship of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Prior to this, Ferguson worked as Legislative Director for Rep. Rob Bishop where he staffed and managed all activities at the Committee on Natural Resources, including the committee's work on the National Environmental Policy Act and the Energy Policy Act. While working for Bishop, Ferguson also organized and managed the Utah Public Lands Initiative, an environmental planning effort covering 18 million acres and 120 stakeholder groups.

Ferguson earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Utah and a master's degree in Sport Management from Drexel University.
