Schleswig-Holstein (ots Ad hoc-Service) -

In the course of the fiscal year just completed, MobilCom AG realized a record turnover of DM 4.6 billion - an increase of 90% in comparison with the DM 2.43 billion of 1999. The EBITDA amounts to minus DM 22.05 million compared to DM 386.6 million in 1999. The MobilCom-Group result amounts to minus DM 174.5 million in comparison to DM 170.8 million in the year 1999. The earnings per share amounts to minus 3.4 marks (1999: 3.93 marks). The cause for the expected negative return was largely to be found in the costs for the UMTS start-up, investments in customer growth, and restructuring measures. MobilCom invested a total of DM 890 million marks in growth in comparison with 261 million marks in 1999. In the fourth quarter 2000 MobilCom realized revenues of DM 1.35 billion and acquired 660.000 new customers. The company counts 6.52 million customers in the sectors wireless services, Internet, and fixed-line services (excluding call-by-call) - 99% more than the 3.28 million customers at the end of 1999. The share of cellular amounted to 3.98 million customers at the end of 2000 - an increase since the end of 1999 (1.86 million customers) of 114%. The market share in contract customer business (24-month contracts), important prerequisite for successful UMTS business, rose by a quarter from 9.8% to 12.3% between January 2000 and the end of the year. The market share in the contract-business is double as high as in the prepaid-business. More over, the acquisition of the UMTS licence represented the successful jump from service provider to network operator. The balance sheet figures are published in accordance with the IAS.
